Samama Fellowship with Holland Baroque 2020/2021
Training course (for violin, cello, lute and organ)

AUDITIONS
2nd June 2020, Utrecht

At the moment we are all closely watching the developments of the corona crisis. Every country is taking different measures and the current situation in The Netherlands is that all gatherings and events are cancelled until June 1st. This means that our audition date is still safe at the moment, as well as next concert season. We are very much looking forward to starting our new projects and we hope you would like to join us on these adventures.

Until further notice, the auditions will still take place on June 2nd, in Utrecht. If you have to book an international trip to be present on this day, please contact our producer Clara van Meyel (clara@hollandbaroque.com) beforehand, so you can look at the best option together. Also if you are not sure yet if you will be able to travel on June 2nd, please do still apply and write to Clara about your situation.

Application

This year you can apply for the fellowship if you play violin, cello, lute or harpsichord/organ. If you are in your last year of bachelor or in your master studies, under 30 years old, and if you are available for all projects that apply to your instrument (see application form), you can apply for the audition. You will receive a daily fee during this training course of 100 euros per playing day.

Please fill in the form below and send it, along with your CV, before Monday, May 25th 2020 to our producer, Clara van Meyel: clara@hollandbaroque.com.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Holland Baroque is an international ensemble based in The Netherlands that plays over 60 concerts a year in Holland and abroad. We have invited guests such as Giovanni Sollima, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Aisslinn Nosky, Dorothee Mields, and others. Although baroque music is the foundation, we build bridges to other musical styles as well. Four violinists have found their place as members in the ensemble, and three violinists and one cellist join the orchestra on a regular basis since Holland Baroque began offering this training course. Participating in the training course is a chance to get to know the ensemble, as well as to improve your own skills and deepen your career as a baroque musician.

Samama Fellowship

Holland Baroque offers the opportunity to gain experience and build a network in an exciting, Dutch, first-class baroque ensemble. The program consists of a one-year training course for Early Music students.

Leo Samama is a composer, musicologist, director, writer, and member of many Dutch ensembles’ boards of directors. His influence reaches over the entire musical life of the Netherlands. We have great respect for his many talents and we are grateful for his work in the cultural sector and for his years serving as the chair of our board. Besides playing in the orchestra, during the fellowship you will also receive lectures and workshops given by Leo Samama, Judith and Tineke Steenbrink (artistic team Holland Baroque), and other specialists. These classes will reflect on several subjects such as ‘baroque is now’ and ‘why composers in the 18th century never needed a notebook’.
